Roosevelt Elementary School

Principal

Welcome, Roosevelt Class of 2020 - 2021!

My name is Michelle Grier. I have been the principal at Roosevelt for three years, and I cannot wait to welcome my fourth cohort into our wonderful learning community.

Roosevelt Elementary is a unique and wonderfully diverse learning community where our mission is to  "Think, Create, Collaborate and Innovate." Our motto at Roosevelt School is, "Changing our world through academics and service, one step at a time."

While I believe this school year will be different from any other, I am more eager than ever to return to school in whatever format and share this journey with you. When it is deemed safe to be in the same physical space, I look forward to meeting you in person. Students won't just see me in the hallways and classrooms; I also love to spend some time in PE and recess participating in sports and sneaking in some exercise. In the meantime, our virtual interactions will provide a way for us to keep in touch, and I will do my absolute best to make the most of them.

There are so many exciting things that students can look forward to this year, including:

Seeing their friends even though it is from a distance.
Meeting new teachers and making new friends.
Engaging in a journey of self-discovery by exploring parts of their identity that may be unknown through our Identity Project.
Discovering their passions and seeing them as strengths.
Pursuing their passions and seeing themselves as agents of change in our world.
Enhancing their lives as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, but most importantly, as humans.

On behalf of the staff, thank you for entrusting your child to us. It is going to be a fantastic school year!

Warm regards,

Michelle Grier
